Responsibilities⚓︎

As a fully managed service, Hydrolix personnel will assume responsibilities for installation and maintenance of the Hydrolix data platform while the Hydrolix Managed customer assumes responsibility for its use and integration into their overall data solution. The following table lists the responsibilities and whether they apply to Hydrolix and/or the customer, and where Hydrolix documentation can be found for the relevant capabilities.

Required Cloud Resource Hierarchy, Roles & Permissions⚓︎

Hydrolix personnel require administrative access to the customer cloud resources listed in the previous section in order to perform the installation, configuration, operations and maintenance tasks required to deliver a fully managed Hydrolix service. To provide this access in a secure, scalable and compliant manner for both parties, Hydrolix will work with new customers during onboarding to implement the necessary permissions which will include the following steps:

  1. Create a new cloud resource container entity for sole use by Hydrolix Managed. The table below summarizes the account hierarchy terminology used by each of the supported cloud providers for this resource container.
New Account Entity Documentation
Amazon Web Services Member account https://docs.aws.amazon.com/organizations/latest/userguide/orgs_manage_accounts_create.html
Google Cloud Project or Folder Project: https://cloud.google.com/resource-manager/docs/creating-managing-projects Folder: https://cloud.google.com/resource-manager/docs/creating-managing-folders
Azure Management Group https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/governance/management-groups/create-management-group-portal
  1. Use the cloud provider’s Identity & Access Management (IAM) system to create an administrator role for the Hydrolix resource container created in step 1. This role will only be used by Hydrolix personnel.
  2. Use the cloud provider’s IAM system to invite the Hydrolix operations team to the newly-created administrator role. The Hydrolix operations team’s group account will be provided during the on-boarding process.
